Never use Delta Vacations.
Never use Delta Vacations. Very, Very Bad. $727.00 more for air and hotel, London. Delta Air Lines does not allow Delta Vacations to sell their lowest priced airfare. Delta Vacations told me this when I complained, and I confirmed this by viewing Delta airfares. If you follow the link from Delta.com; “Planning Tools” then “Vacation Packages”, it takes you to the Delta Vacations web site. You will NOT get the lowest airfare. You can get lower airfare by staying on Delta.com and booking the flight yourself. In my case $527.00. And yes I could have gotten a hotel for lower cost, on my own. The “Vacation Packages” is not a deal, it does not save you money on airfare, “Vacation Package” seems to be a planned rip off by Delta Air Lines and Delta Vacations. Despite a guarantee of lowest airfare by Delta Air Lines for the Sky Miles Medallion members; Delta Air Lines does not honor that guarantee within their own companies. Never, Never use Delta Vacations. Thanks so much Delta Air Lines.
Never Again
We booked air and rental car to Las Vegas thru Delta Vacations. I've done this trip many times and always compare prices. Oddly enough, booking the air and car thru Delta Vacations turned out to be the cheapest. Or so I thought. I booked the flights and car I wanted, they quoted my price. After everything was confirmed, inlcuding my credit card being charged, she said the care rental taxes are payable at the time of car pickup. I was shocked. No where did I read that. So I said never mind, I'd book everything myself. Nope, too late, my card has been charged. So now price is a little higher than if I'd booked separtely. OK, so she said it would be about $55 at airport. Ok, not too bad, altho I was pretty angry. A few weeks later I saw prices went down on same package, but Delta Vacation would NOT adjust our price, nor do anything to accommodate us with extra perks. Now I'm getting even angrier for booking with them. Then came day of trip. Our flight was changed (not their fault, so that is OK) and I called them to advise car rental company that we would have a much later arrival. Each rep I talked to WAS VERY RUDE, and of course it's because customer service is out the window now that they've made the commission, and don't feel a need to help a customer when there is nothing for them to gain. I was put on hold several times, given another number to call that wasn't even the car rental company, and on and on. OK, so now I'm sure I'd never use Delta Vacations again. The final straw - we got the car rental, and the taxes were $97. Ha, double what the stupid clerk told me. OK, now I've paid more than $150 for my trip, dealt with extremely rude staff, been lied to abuot the costs. NEVER NEVER NEVER deal with Delta Vacations. The airline is fine, but the old tour company MLT is now Delta Vacations. Stay away.
