Adobe Discontinues Creative Suite for Creative Cloud on June 17th

Have you heard Adobe’s big announcement? In early May of 2013, Adobe announced that, after ten years, there would be no more new Creative Suites for Mac and Windows software needs. It launched the “CC” family, featuring Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Illustrator CC, Dreamweaver CC, Premiere Pro CC, deep integration with Behance social features, desktop access to Typekit and more. Adobe’s new focus is their Creative Cloud, or CC, launched last year, that will take over the Creative Suite series.

Adobe’s Creative Cloud will offer its most popular applications, all accessible in the same spot where users may already be used to uploading their documents. Creative Suite 6, the last version of CS to be released, will still be available for purchase, and help will be available to address CS issues, but no more new versions of the Creative Suite will be produced.

Benefits of Creative Cloud?

One of the major benefits of Creative Cloud is the access to nearly all of Adobe’s products. Products such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Permiere Pro, along with many others, are all included. Users no longer have to shell out hundreds of dollars for the latest Adobe software. Now, they will have access to their favorite software under the Cloud. It could be fun to try out the different apps since they are all included.

Cost of Creative Cloud?

According to Adobe.com, current Adobe subscribers who have the Creative Suite 3 or later version can expect to pay $29.99 per month for Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud for administrative or other teams will cost $69.99 per month. There is a break for students at $19.99 per month. While $49.99 per month may sound expensive, it could be a really great deal for those who use a number of Adobe’s apps, all of which are included with Creative Cloud. For one price that includes about 15 apps, the cost could be well worth it for users.

Users of Creative Cloud who signed up last year and were pleased with the services are sure to be excited about Adobe’s announcement. For users who use limited apps, as well as for Creative Suite users, there is surely some curiosity about what the new comprehensive Creative Cloud can offer. For all other users, they might consider the free Creative Cloud membership. While the free package offers limited benefits, it does give access to all the Creative Cloud apps for 30 days, thus allowing all computer users to see if Creative Cloud is for them.
