What Dog Carriers are Suitable for your Dogs?

Shopping Guides 14/08/2018

A dog carrier is a must-have item for every dog owner, which makes it possible that your dogs can travel with you, no matter you need to take our dogs on the planes or in the car. There are a lot of dog carriers on the market. Read through this article to find out how to choose a suitable dog carrier.

To find a suitable dog carrier, you should first measure your dog. You need to know his length, height, and girth before choosing a dog carrier.

Length: Measure his back from his neck to the base of his tail. Then, add 2-3 inches to that measurement.

Height: Measure his shoulder height from the top of his shoulder to the ground. Add a few inches to that measurement.

Girth: Wrap the tape measure behind his front legs and around his body, going underneath the widest part of his rib cage. Place this end next to the beginning of the tape. Put your thumb on the number that meets up with the beginning of the tape measure.

A suitable dog carrier should be spacious for your dog to turn around, stretch out and curl up. Please also don't forget to consider your dog's weight. Usually, manufacturers will list its size and weight limit. You should meet both requirements.

Types of dog carriers

Soft-sided dog carriers are lightweight and portable which is suitable to carry small dogs. They are also easy to fold to save your storage space. Soft-sided carriers are also compact to fit under most airline seats. Some brands like Sherpa are guaranteed on-board so that you can fly with your dog friends.
